Manchester United signs Julia Zigiotti Olme as their first signing for the 2025/26 season

Manchester United Women have announced the signing of Swedish midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme, marking their first official reinforcement for the 2025/26 season.
Midfield Reinforced After Key Departures
The 27-year-old arrives from Bayern Munich on a two-year contract, with an option for a third season. Her signing comes as United look to reshape their squad following the departures of four players, including defender Aoife Mannion.
Zigiotti Olme brings Women’s Super League experience from a previous spell at Brighton, and was part of Bayern’s treble-winning squad last season, appearing in 25 matches and scoring once. She also featured for Sweden during the UEFA Women’s Euro, including in the quarterfinal loss to England.
Player Excited to Join “Family” Atmosphere
Speaking about the transfer, Zigiotti Olme said she was drawn by the club’s playing style and welcoming environment.
“I’m very happy to be here and to join this family,” she said. “I’ve been following Manchester United for the past few years and I’m impressed by what they’ve built. This team really fits my style.”
She added that her initial interactions with the squad were “fantastic” and made her feel right at home.
Preseason Underway Ahead of Champions League Clash
United are already deep into preseason preparations. They face Aston Villa in a friendly on August 3, before taking on PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on August 27.
The club will then kick off their Women’s Super League campaign on September 7 against Leicester City.
