Liverpool decides not to make a new offer for Alexander Isak after having its first offer rejected by Newcastle

Liverpool FC has officially stepped back from its pursuit of Swedish striker Alexander Isak, following a firm rejection from Newcastle United after submitting a €140 million offer (approximately R$900 million).

Newcastle Rejects Record-Breaking Proposal

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool had no plans to increase their offer after the Magpies made it clear that Isak is not for sale this window. The bid, one of the most significant in recent Premier League history, was turned down immediately, with Newcastle signaling their intent to keep the 24-year-old forward for at least one more season.

Despite the failed bid, Liverpool reportedly maintains positive relations with Isak’s representatives. The player himself was not opposed to the move, but with Newcastle unwilling to negotiate, the Reds have decided to shift their focus elsewhere.

Newcastle May Offer Isak Improved Contract

While Liverpool pulls back, Newcastle is said to be considering a contract renewal for Isak. The new terms would likely include a salary increase and possibly a gentleman’s agreement to facilitate a move in a future transfer window, should the right opportunity arise.

Isak has not yet made a final decision, leaving his future partially open. However, Newcastle is committed to building around the striker, who was a standout performer last season.

Liverpool Turns to Other Transfer Targets

With the Isak pursuit paused, Liverpool’s transfer committee, now working closely with new manager Arne Slot, will continue exploring alternative striker options. The club is looking for a forward who matches their tactical needs, age profile, and market value.

As of now, a renewed Liverpool bid for Isak remains unlikely unless Newcastle’s stance changes significantly before the window closes.
