Lia Walti leaves Arsenal after seven years and signs with Juventus for 2025/26

Arsenal midfielder Lia Walti has left the club after seven years, joining Juventus ahead of the 2025/26 season. The Swiss international departs North London as one of the Gunners’ most influential players of recent years.

Arsenal bids farewell to a key figure

Walti, 31, arrived at Arsenal in 2018 and became a central figure in midfield, known for her composure, vision, and leadership. Over her seven seasons, she made 183 appearances for the club and was part of the historic 2024/25 Women’s Champions League-winning squad, which lifted the trophy after a dramatic final against Barcelona.

Her departure marks the end of an era at Arsenal, who praised her contribution both on and off the pitch. “Lia has been an important part of our recent history at Arsenal. One of the most talented midfielders of her generation, she brought joy to our fans and wore our shirt with class. We wish her every success after her special seven years with us,” said the club’s women’s director.

Juventus strengthens midfield with Walti

For Juventus Women, the signing is seen as a major coup. The Italian club continues to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level in both Serie A Femminile and the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Walti’s international experience with Switzerland and her track record of success with Arsenal are expected to provide immediate impact.

Arsenal’s ambitions remain high

Despite the surprise departure, Arsenal enter the 2025/26 Women’s Super League with strong momentum. After a standout preseason, including a win over West Ham, the Gunners look to challenge Chelsea’s domestic dominance and defend their European crown.

Arsenal kick off their WSL campaign on Saturday (6) at 9:30 am (Brasília time) against newly promoted London City Lionesses at the Emirates Stadium.
