Fenerbahçe agrees to pay Manchester United’s demand to sign Antony

Fenerbahçe has moved to the front of the race for Antony’s signature, after agreeing to pay Manchester United’s €45 million asking price for the Brazilian winger. Despite the green light from the English club, the transfer still hinges on the player’s decision, as Antony’s priority remains a return to Spain with Real Betis.

Fenerbahçe’s Ambitious Move

According to ESPN, José Mourinho’s side has formally communicated its willingness to meet United’s valuation and has even prepared a lucrative salary package to convince the 24-year-old forward. The Turkish giants are determined to reinforce their squad, continuing the trend of heavy investments in recent seasons, led by Fenerbahçe and rivals Galatasaray.

If the deal goes through, Antony would join a strong Brazilian core in Istanbul, featuring Rodrigo Becão, Diego Carlos, and Anderson Talisca, potentially forming one of the most competitive squads in Turkish football.

Antony’s Preference

While Fenerbahçe has shown the most financial commitment so far, Antony remains unconvinced about a move to Turkey. The winger is pushing for a return to LaLiga, where he impressed on loan with Real Betis last season. In 40 appearances across Betis and Manchester United, Antony scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists, with the majority of his success coming in Spain.

Betis, however, has yet to reach an agreement with United, leaving the door open for Fenerbahçe to close the deal if the player accepts.

Manchester United’s Transfer Plans

Antony is not part of new coach Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans, making his departure a priority for the Old Trafford board before the summer window shuts. Alongside the Brazilian, winger Jadon Sancho is also expected to leave, with Inter Milan recently expressing interest in the England international after his loan spell at Chelsea.
