Goals from Lucas Torreira (29′) and Davinson Sanchéz (83′) sealed victory for the Turkish league leaders

Bodrumspor

Galatasaray won 2-0 at home to Bodrumspor, coached by José Morais, extending their lead over Fenerbahçe , who are second in the Turkish league, to six points. José Mourinho’s men will only play against Kayserispor on Sunday.

Diogo Sousa, the regular goalkeeper for the green and whites, was one of the stars of the match, saving 11 of Galatasaray’s 35 (!!) shots. Pedro Brazão did not come off the bench.

Despite Gala’s dominance from the first minute, Okan Buruk’s team only opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Following a direct free kick, the little Torreira responded with a great header to an equally excellent cross from Gabriel Sara.
The goal gave Galatasaray more confidence , and they only failed to extend their lead in the 39th minute when Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Sousa denied Baris Yilmaz with an extraordinary save. By the end of the first half, the referee had awarded a penalty in favour of the Turkish champions, but VAR overturned the initial decision.

In the second half, the shooting at Diogo Sousa continued, but the Portuguese goalkeeper once again stepped up and prevented a goal from Osimhen in the 63rd minute.

Bodrumspor struggled to hold on to their narrow deficit until the 81st minute, when Galatasaray scored again from a direct free kick. Unus Akgun crossed into the box and the winning header fell to former Tottenham centre-back Davinson Sanchéz.
