Manchester City could make three changes to their Premier League lineup against Tottenham

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the likely return of Rodri and Phil Foden, while hinting at the possible comeback of goalkeeper Ederson for the Premier League clash against Tottenham this Saturday (23), at 8:30 a.m. (Brasília time), at the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson’s Status Still Uncertain

The Brazilian goalkeeper missed City’s league opener due to illness, giving new signing James Trafford the chance to debut. While speculation has linked Ederson with a potential exit from the club, Guardiola kept the decision open:

“We’ll decide tonight after dinner or tomorrow,” the coach said in his press conference.

If cleared, Ederson will regain his spot between the posts in a key early-season showdown.

Rodri and Foden Ready to Return

Guardiola confirmed that Rodri and Foden, who were left out of the opening match due to lack of training rhythm, are now fully fit to rejoin the squad.

“They weren’t ready for the debut because they missed preseason sessions, but now they are available,” Guardiola explained.

Key Absences Confirmed

Despite the positive returns, the Spanish coach ruled out Savinho, Josko Gvardiol, and Mateo Kovacic, all sidelined through physical problems. With those changes in mind, a projected Manchester City lineup could be:

Ederson (Trafford); Lewis, Stones, Rúben Dias, Aït-Nouri; Nico González (Rodri), Reijnders, Bernardo Silva; Bobb (Foden), Doku, and Haaland.

Guardiola also dismissed any talk of revenge against Spurs, a team that has often complicated City in recent years:

“Tottenham has always been a tough opponent. What happened before is the past — this is a new season. Revenge makes no sense.”

Tottenham’s Problems Mounting

On the visitors’ side, coach Thomas Frank faces a growing injury list. According to WhoScored, Dragusin, Kulusevski, Maddison, and Takai are already ruled out, while Bryan Gil, Solomon, and Udogie remain doubtful.

The probable Spurs lineup is:

Vicario; Romero, Danso, Van de Ven; Pedro Porro, Bentancur, João Palhinha, Spence, Sarr; Kudus, and Richarlison.

High Stakes in Early Season Clash

Both Manchester City and Tottenham began the Premier League with victories and now meet in what promises to be one of the most competitive fixtures of the round. The clash at the Etihad will not only test Guardiola’s squad depth but also Tottenham’s resilience amid a wave of injuries.
