Borussia Dortmund close to signing Chelsea duo Carney Chukwuemeka and Aarón Anselmino

Borussia Dortmund are in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign two young players: Carney Chukwuemeka on a permanent deal and Aarón Anselmino on loan.

Two separate deals linked together

According to Sky Sport journalist Patrick Berger, Dortmund want to buy Chukwuemeka outright, while also securing Anselmino on loan. However, Chelsea have made it clear: the defender will only leave if the club also sells Chukwuemeka.

The stance means either both players move to Germany together, or neither deal goes through, despite Anselmino already accepting Dortmund’s offer.

Limited impact at Chelsea

Chukwuemeka, 21, joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 for around £20 million but has struggled to break into the first team. He has managed just 32 appearances, two goals, and one assist, spending recent months on loan at Dortmund.

Anselmino, 20, arrived from Boca Juniors in 2024 for £15.6 million. The Argentine defender has only made one official appearance for Chelsea before being loaned back to Boca, and is still waiting for his Premier League debut.

Chelsea planning major clear-out

The Blues are expected to offload around ten players this season as part of manager Enzo Maresca’s squad rebuild. High-profile names such as Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku, and Ben Chilwell could also be shown the door.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are targeting ambitious signings, including Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, both of whom are in advanced negotiations.
