Inter Milan agrees to sell Botafogo target Mehdi Taremi but wants €8 million

Brazilian club faces competition from Premier League sides for 33-year-old striker
Inter Milan is prepared to sell Mehdi Taremi, but the Italian side has set an asking price of €8 million, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 33-year-old striker, currently under contract at Inter, is being pursued by Botafogo, though Premier League clubs are also showing strong interest.
Botafogo Faces Premier League Competition for Taremi
While Botafogo continues to explore options to replace outgoing striker Igor Jesus, the club now faces competition from Leeds United, Fulham, and West Ham, who are also monitoring Taremi’s situation. Inter Milan is open to negotiating a transfer but is demanding a significant fee for the Iranian international.
Taremi only joined Inter in July 2024 after leaving FC Porto as a free agent. Despite high expectations, his first season in Serie A has been underwhelming, and he has struggled to secure a regular place in Simone Inzaghi’s starting XI.
Prolific Track Record Boosts Taremi’s Appeal
Despite a lackluster spell in Italy, Taremi’s reputation as a proven goal scorer keeps him in high demand. Over the course of his professional career, the Iranian forward has scored 202 goals and provided 101 assists in 445 matches, according to data from Transfermarkt.
This translates to one goal every 157 minutes, highlighting his continued effectiveness in front of goal. His standout performances at Porto and Rio Ave helped him earn recognition across European football.
Botafogo Planning Formal Offer
Taremi is seen as a potential marquee signing for Botafogo, which recently brought in Argentine forward Joaquín Correa, also from Inter Milan. With Correa yet to make a major impact, the club is keen on adding further experience and firepower to its attacking line.
Botafogo is expected to submit a formal offer in the coming days. However, overcoming Premier League competition and meeting Inter’s financial demands remain key hurdles before the transfer can be finalized.
