Veteran left-back could exit Old Trafford this summer after a decade at the club

Luke Shaw is reportedly open to leaving Manchester United this summer, with growing interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and no clear guarantee of a starting role under incoming manager Rúben Amorim. The 30-year-old full-back has been with the Red Devils since 2014, but recent injuries and competition within the squad have cast doubt on his future.

United Won’t Block Shaw’s Exit

According to the Daily Mirror, Shaw has accepted that his time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end and is ready to evaluate new opportunities before the start of the 2025/26 season. While his current contract runs until 2027, United are unlikely to stand in his way should a suitable offer arrive.

Internally, the club sees the potential transfer as a way to trim the wage bill. Shaw reportedly earns around €150,000 per week, making him one of the highest-paid defenders in the squad.

Amorim Prefers Younger Options

Manager Rúben Amorim is expected to prioritize younger options on the left flank. The club recently added Patrick Dorgu and Diego León, both of whom are competing with Diogo Dalot for a spot in the lineup. Early indications suggest that Dorgu could become the first-choice left-back this season.

With Shaw making just 12 appearances last season starting only five his role has been significantly reduced. Injuries and inconsistent performances have further limited his impact since the 2022/23 campaign.

Saudi Pro League Clubs Show Interest

Multiple teams from the Saudi Pro League are said to be monitoring Shaw’s situation and could make a formal offer in the coming weeks. While no deal is imminent, the 30-year-old is reportedly open to the move and ready to consider life outside of England for the first time in his career.
