MILAN, Italy – Serie A leaders Inter Milan are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Manchester United veteran Harry Maguire. The England international is entering the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, making him a prime target for the Italian giants.

According to Italian journalist Marco Conterio, Inter’s hierarchy is actively scouting defensive reinforcements to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s squad. Despite their strong domestic form, the Nerazzurri are keen to add experienced depth to their backline, especially with the potential for high-profile departures at the end of the season.

A Bargain Opportunity?

Maguire’s current deal with the Red Devils is set to expire in June 2026, and as of now, Manchester United are not expected to trigger an extension. This would allow the 32-year-old to join a new club as a free agent, a scenario that perfectly aligns with Inter Milan’s recent strategy of signing high-quality players without a transfer fee.

While Inter have yet to make an official approach, they are closely monitoring Maguire’s situation. The Italians believe that the slower, more tactical pace of Italian football could suit Maguire’s strengths, much like it did for his former teammate Chris Smalling.

Inter are not alone in their admiration for the former United captain. Reports suggest that Napoli and their manager are also keeping a watchful eye on the situation. Antonio Conte has long been an admirer of Maguire’s aerial dominance and leadership, and the Neapolitan club could rival Inter with a concrete offer in the coming weeks.

Maguire, who has seen his playing time fluctuate under the current United regime, is said to be open to a move abroad to revitalise his career and maintain his place in the England national team setup ahead of the next major tournaments.
