PSG suffers first defeat in the Club World Cup against Botafogo
Botafogo shocks the world by beating PSG in the Club World Cup; a South American team had not beaten a European team since 2012

Botafogo showed great discipline and commitment to secure a historic 1-0 victory over Champions League champions Aris Saint-Germain. With this result, Fogão is one draw away from the round of 16 of the Club World Cup .
Striker Igor Jesus was responsible for the winning goal for the black and white team at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, where the Group B match of the FIFA tournament was played.
Taboo broken in the USA
A South American team had not beaten a European team in official competitions since 2012 , when Corinthians became world champions after beating Chelsea 1-0, with a goal from Paolo Guerrero.
In addition to breaking the taboo, the team led by coach Renato Paiva reaches six points and is in the lead of the group, as they had already beaten Seattle Sounders in their debut.
Qualification is not yet guaranteed, as PSG and Atlético de Madrid, each with three points, can also reach six in the final round, but it is close. The Madrid team is Botafogo’s next opponent, on Monday, at 4 pm (Brasília time). A draw will qualify Fogão.

Botafogo played a perfect tactical match. In the first half, right-back Vitinho was the one who had the most difficulty, in the duels with midfielder Kvaratskhelia.
The black and white team adjusted after the first 15 minutes and began to suffer less. The team was waiting for the chance to counterattack and, when they had it, they opened the scoring with Igor Jesus , in the 34th minute, after a ball passed through by Savarino.
More confident after having gone into the break with the lead, Botafogo felt more comfortable taking more risks in the second half and began to explore the attacking field more, even scaring the Parisian defense.
Despite this, they did not dominate the attacking actions and continued to have to make a great effort to protect themselves, amidst occasional dangerous arrivals from PSG. Luis Enrique was not satisfied with the performance of the Paris team and sent on the field Fabián Ruiz and João Neves, a duo usually starting on the bench, in place of Hernández and Saire-Emery. It was a quadruple substitution, also with Nuno Mendes and Barcola coming on in place of Mayulu and Gonçalo Ramos.
The substitutions did not have the expected effect. The final minutes showed PSG very present in the attacking field, but without much organization. Shots from outside the area were the main alternative to seek the equalizer, which did not come.
