Lucía Corrales ready for the Women’s Super League after Barcelona’s failed renewal

Barcelona defender Lucía Corrales is on the verge of leaving the club, with London City Lionesses ready to trigger her €500,000 release clause. The Spanish full-back, just 18, is expected to become one of the first major signings for the newly promoted Women’s Super League side.

London City Lionesses Ready to Pay Clause

According to journalist Ángel Pérez, the English club has decided to pay Corrales’ termination fee in full. The deal suits Barcelona, who are under financial pressure and need immediate income to comply with financial fair play regulations.

Renewal Talks Collapse

Barcelona had opened negotiations to extend Corrales’ contract earlier this summer. However, discussions stalled as the Catalan giants faced growing economic restrictions, leaving the door open for the WSL club to swoop in.

Barcelona Off to Strong Start in Liga F

While off-field issues dominate the headlines, Barcelona began their Liga F campaign in dominant fashion. The Blaugrana crushed Alhama FC 8-0 in the opening round, with goals from Caroline Graham Hansen (2), Ewa Pajor, Aitana Bonmatí, Ona Batlle and Clàudia Pina (3).

Despite a strong start on the pitch, Barça’s transfer activity has been limited, with several departures weakening squad depth. Corrales’ expected exit now adds to that list.
