Juventus eyeing Hjulmand as Douglas Luiz nears Premier League exit; O’Riley considered plan B

Juventus is actively pursuing Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP as a replacement for Douglas Luiz, who is close to leaving the club. With the Brazilian midfielder no longer in manager Igor Tudor’s plans, the Italian giants are preparing for a reshuffle in midfield.

Nottingham Forest Leads Race for Douglas Luiz

According to Tuttosport and IlBianconero.com, Nottingham Forest is in advanced talks to sign Douglas Luiz. The English club has reportedly agreed to terms with the player’s camp and is ready to offer a contract through 2030.

The current offer stands at €32 million (approx. R$205.5 million), structured as a loan with an obligation to buy. However, Juventus is holding out for €40 million (R$256.9 million), and negotiations are ongoing.

Other Premier League clubs including Manchester United, West Ham, and Everton — have shown interest, but Forest is the most committed at this stage.

Juventus Makes Hjulmand a Priority Target

Should Luiz depart, Juventus will prioritize signing Morten Hjulmand, who recently impressed in the Portuguese Super Cup against Benfica. The Danish midfielder has grown significantly since his time at Lecce, and Sporting has set a valuation of €50 million for his transfer.

Hjulmand has emerged as a long-term solution in Turin’s midfield rebuild, aligning with Igor Tudor’s tactical plans.

O’Riley on Standby as Cost-Efficient Option

If negotiations for Hjulmand stall, Juventus could shift focus to Matt O’Riley. The Celtic midfielder is seen as a cost-effective alternative, with talks reportedly in early stages. O’Riley’s profile fits Juventus’ technical needs and financial constraints better, offering flexibility should Sporting refuse to lower Hjulmand’s price tag.

Midfield Overhaul Signals New Era at Juventus

The potential departure of Douglas Luiz and the pursuit of Hjulmand or O’Riley mark the beginning of a midfield overhaul under Tudor. With tension mounting internally and strategic reshuffling underway, Juventus appears set to make decisive moves before the transfer window closes.
