Willian Rejects Grêmio Approach and Sets Sights on MLS or Saudi Arabia

Former Chelsea and Brazil international chooses next career move after Fulham exit.

Veteran winger Willian, 36, has decided on the direction of his career after becoming a free agent following his departure from Fulham. The former Chelsea, Arsenal, Corinthians, and Brazil national team star is drawing interest from multiple clubs but has ruled out a return to Brazil.

According to journalist Leonardo Müller, Grêmio made contact with Willian in July, hoping to bring the experienced forward back to Serie A. However, the player turned down the approach, citing the negative experience he had during his last stint with Corinthians.

Willian Targets Move to MLS or Saudi Pro League

Sources close to the player indicate that Willian has already set clear priorities for what may be the final chapter of his professional career. The winger is focused on securing a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) or the Saudi Pro League, two markets that have recently attracted several high-profile veterans with competitive contracts and growing visibility.

Willian was recently seen attending matches during the FIFA Club World Cup, where he publicly supported former club Chelsea. During his stay, he is believed to have entertained preliminary offers from clubs in the host region.

Brief Stint in Greece After Fulham Departure

Willian’s most recent season saw limited action. He made 23 appearances in total 12 with Fulham and 11 with Olympiacos, where he had a brief stint. Despite regular playing time, he failed to score and registered only one assist throughout the campaign.

Previously, Willian had come close to a move to the Middle East but opted to stay in London, renewing his deal with Fulham shortly after parting ways with the club a decision he later reversed.

As of now, no official agreement has been announced, but all signs point toward Willian continuing his career outside Brazil, with MLS and Saudi Arabia leading the race for his signature.
