Manchester United receive 10 approaches for Kobbie Mainoo as midfielder pushes for Champions League move

Manchester United risk losing one of their brightest academy products. According to Mail Sport, at least 10 clubs have made contact over Kobbie Mainoo, with the 20-year-old midfielder open to leaving Old Trafford if a Champions League offer arrives.

Contract renewal stalls at Old Trafford

United are struggling to extend Mainoo’s deal despite it running until June 2027. The fear inside the club is that the player could reach the final year of his contract without committing to new terms, a scenario that could see the Red Devils lose one of their most valuable assets for free.

Currently valued at €50 million (R$315m) by Transfermarkt, Mainoo has already impressed in the Premier League under Erik ten Hag. However, since the arrival of Rúben Amorim, he has seen fewer minutes, fuelling speculation about his future.

European giants circle

Interest in the midfielder is heating up. Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid have both inquired about his situation, while Juventus also reached out to his representatives in recent days. With several other Champions League clubs monitoring him, United expect concrete offers before the transfer window closes.

Why Mainoo is so sought after

A product of United’s academy, Mainoo is praised for his versatility—capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder or more advanced role. He combines intelligent positioning with ball-carrying ability under pressure. Defensively, he excels at winning duels and covering space, making him one of the most promising English midfielders of his generation.

If Manchester United fail to tie him down to a new deal, they could face one of the most significant departures from their youth ranks in years.
