West Ham seeks loan of Axel Disasi with Chelsea after sale of Aguerd to Olympique de Marseille

Chelsea open to talks but demand full wage coverage and loan fee
Hammers move quickly after Aguerd exit
West Ham United have opened negotiations with Chelsea to sign Axel Disasi on loan, following the departure of Nayef Aguerd to Olympique de Marseille for around £20 million (€23.5m).
With the transfer window set to close tonight, the London club is under pressure to secure an experienced defender to replace Aguerd. Disasi, out of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans, has emerged as the leading target.
Chelsea’s conditions for release
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are willing to let Disasi leave but have set strict conditions:
- A loan fee must be paid.
- West Ham must cover his £40,000-per-week wages in full.
The Frenchman, 26, is keen for regular playing time after struggling to establish himself at Stamford Bridge. His only Premier League start this season came in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, where he was substituted in the second half after a quiet display.
West Ham’s defensive shortlist
While Disasi remains the priority, the Hammers are also considering alternatives:
- Charlie Cresswell (Toulouse)
- Igor Julio (Brighton, but in talks with Crystal Palace)
The board is determined to close at least one defensive deal before the window shuts.
