Sporting surpasses Porto and Benfica and leads the ranking of squad market value in Portugal

Sporting now has the most valuable squad in Portugal, surpassing rivals Porto and Benfica, according to the latest update from Transfermarkt. The Lions are valued at €440.3 million (R$2.64 billion), taking the lead after the close of the transfer window.

Sporting takes top spot

The big highlight of Rúben Amorim’s squad is captain Morten Hjulmand, valued at €50 million. His rise reflects Sporting’s strong midfield and the club’s successful internal strategy to enhance its assets.

Porto close behind

FC Porto remains in the chase, with a total squad value of €363.5 million (R$2.18 billion). Their key player is Samu Aghehowa, also priced at €50 million, symbolizing the Dragons’ faith in young prospects to remain competitive both in Portugal and Europe.

Benfica completes the top three

Benfica sits in third place, valued at €335.8 million (R$2.02 billion). New striker Vangelis Pavlidis is the most valuable name in the squad, estimated at €35 million. Still, the Eagles lag behind their rivals in terms of overall squad market value.

A new chapter in the rivalry

The updated ranking gives Sporting a boost in the historic “Big Three” rivalry. Porto remains solid and competitive, while Benfica faces growing pressure to adjust its transfer market policy to keep pace with its Lisbon rival.
