England maintains perfect record in World Cup qualifiers and can secure place against Serbia

England has started the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers with maximum efficiency. With four wins in four matches, Gareth Southgate’s squad leads Group K with 12 points and is already close to confirming its place in the tournament hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

100% record so far

The Three Lions have confirmed their status as favorites despite some uneven performances. England has collected 12 points, five ahead of Serbia in second place. That advantage could grow to eight points if they win their next match.

England faces Serbia tomorrow (9) at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), in what could be the decisive duel of the group.

Path to qualification

According to tournament rules, the first-place team in each group qualifies directly for the World Cup, while the runner-up goes to the playoffs. A victory against Serbia would put England firmly in control of Group K, leaving weaker opponents like Latvia and Albania in the final rounds.

World-class talent, but questions remain

On paper, England is among the strongest squads in the world, with names such as Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, their performances have often been criticized. The team fell short at Euro 2024, losing the final to Spain, and recently played in League B of the Nations League after relegation. At the 2022 World Cup, England exited in the quarterfinals against France, raising doubts about their ability to deliver when it matters most.
