Malacia on the chopping block
According to journalist Rob Dawson, United are open to offloading Malacia, potentially on loan. The defender has struggled for minutes since joining from Feyenoord in 2022 and spent last season on loan at PSV, who opted against making the move permanent.
With Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, and Diego León already competing for the left-back role, Malacia’s chances under Amorim appear slim.
Career stalled since Feyenoord breakthrough
Once regarded as one of Dutch football’s brightest prospects, Malacia rose through Feyenoord’s academy, debuting for the first team in 2017. He later featured for the Netherlands at youth levels before earning a €15 million move to Old Trafford in 2022.
However, he never cemented himself as a starter. Across two years, Malacia has made 47 appearances for United, without scoring or registering an assist.
United’s squad shuffle continues
The potential departure comes after a busy summer exodus at Old Trafford, which saw Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Højlund leave the club. United’s reshaping reflects Amorim’s bid to refresh the squad, though his decisions have drawn criticism from sections of the fanbase.
