Manchester City releases Ederson to Fenerbahçe and agrees deal with Donnarumma, who leaves PSG

Pep Guardiola’s side make a last-minute move in the transfer window, reshaping their goalkeeping department
Donnarumma joins City on deadline day
Manchester City have completed the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around €25 million plus bonuses, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian goalkeeper, out of PSG’s long-term plans, was also on Manchester United’s radar but chose to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 25-year-old arrives to compete with Stefan Ortega, James Trafford, and Marcus Bettinelli, strengthening City’s goalkeeping options after a surprise outgoing transfer.
Ederson heads to Fenerbahçe
The move only materialized after Ederson was released to Fenerbahçe. The Brazilian goalkeeper, who spent seven years as City’s No. 1 and won multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League, was sold for €14 million.
At 32, Ederson had recently lost space in Guardiola’s plans and was omitted from Brazil’s latest national team call-up, making the switch to Turkey the best option to regain protagonism.
Donnarumma’s career highlights
Donnarumma rose to stardom as a teenager at AC Milan, debuting in 2015 and quickly establishing himself as Italy’s starting goalkeeper. Since moving to PSG in 2021, he collected 161 appearances and won four Ligue 1 titles, plus the Champions League.
With 74 caps for Italy, he was the hero of Euro 2020, where he was named Player of the Tournament after decisive penalty saves. Now, he begins a new chapter in England under Guardiola’s command.
