Manchester United signs Matheus Cunha for almost 70 million

It was an open secret in England… and now it’s official: Matheus Cunha (João Pessoa, Brazil, 1999) has signed for Manchester United in exchange for a £62.5 million (almost €70 million) buyout clause. There were other teams interested, but the Brazilian wanted to play for the Old Trafford club no matter what.

According to Sky Sports UK, up to five Premier League clubs, including United, wanted to sign Cunha this summer… but the former Atlético Madrid player made a quick decision and opted for the Red Devils.

His 17 goals and six assists this season with Wolverhampton have certainly caught the attention of major clubs in England. He already scored 12 Premier League goals last season. At 26, having just turned 26 at the end of May, he has reached the level expected but hasn’t fully demonstrated at the Metropolitano.

Cunha has already spent almost €200 million in transfers since starting his career: Sion, Leipzig, Hertha Berlin, Atlético Madrid, Wolverhampton… and now, Manchester United.
