Aston Villa agrees to sell Dibu Martínez to Manchester United, but demands €46 Million
Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez from Aston Villa, but the Midlands club have made it clear they will not let their star goalkeeper leave for less than €46 million.
According to Daily Mail and echoed by Fichajes, Aston Villa are open to negotiations, but only if United meet their valuation. The deal would mark a major investment in experience, with Martínez now 32 years old and under contract at Villa Park.
Dibu Martínez Draws Growing Interest from Old Trafford
After a strong campaign in which he featured 53 times, including 37 Premier League appearances, Martínez has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in English football. He conceded 45 goals during the 2024/25 league season and remains a key figure in Unai Emery’s squad.
Despite his age, new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is said to be keen on the Argentine World Cup winner, although the price tag has raised internal concerns at Old Trafford.
United are also monitoring other goalkeeping targets, but Martínez is reportedly near the top of their list, given his experience and consistency in high-pressure matches.
From Arsenal’s Bench to Villa Hero
Martínez began his professional journey in Europe after developing in Independiente’s youth academy in Argentina. He signed for Arsenal but struggled for consistent playing time, going out on loan to clubs like Oxford United and Getafe before landing at Aston Villa in 2020.
Since then, his reputation has soared especially after playing a pivotal role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory.
United Also Targeting Brazilian Forward
In parallel to the Martínez pursuit, Manchester United are reportedly tracking Brazilian striker Evanilson, who previously featured for Fluminense and FC Porto and is currently under contract with Bournemouth. While the club has expressed interest, no formal offer has been made as of yet.
As United reshape their squad for the 2025/26 season, the coming weeks are expected to bring increased activity on both the goalkeeper and attacking fronts.
