Manchester United and Real Betis reach €22m agreement for Antony’s return to La Liga

Brazilian winger leaves Old Trafford permanently and rejoins Betis after successful loan spell
Deal finalized on deadline day
Manchester United has agreed to sell Antony to Real Betis for €22 million fixed plus €3 million in add-ons, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian forward is already in Spain to undergo medicals before signing a new contract.
The Red Devils also secured a 50% resale clause on future profits, ensuring they remain financially involved if Antony shines again in La Liga.
Antony back where he rediscovered form
Signed by United in 2022 for a record fee, Antony struggled to adapt in the Premier League and eventually lost his spot. Loaned to Betis in January 2025, he rediscovered his best football, becoming decisive in La Liga and earning a recall to the Brazilian national team.
His permanent return to Betis is seen as a win-win: United reduce their wage bill, while the player continues in an environment where he has regained confidence.
Betis beat competition for signing
Betis was Antony’s priority throughout the window, but they faced competition. Atlético de Madrid monitored the winger closely, while clubs from Saudi Arabia made higher financial offers. In the end, the Brazilian preferred continuity in Seville.
