Liverpool set to complete the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace

Liverpool are on the verge of completing the signing of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after weeks of negotiations.

The 24-year-old defender has been on the Reds’ radar for months, and according to multiple British outlets, the deal is now in its final stages. Guehi is expected to undergo medicals in the coming hours, with Liverpool pushing to close the transfer this week.

Deal structure and fee

Crystal Palace initially rejected Liverpool’s £35 million offer, demanding closer to £40 million including bonuses linked to performance. According to the Daily Mail, all parties now view the transfer as a “done deal,” pending formal confirmation.

TalkSPORT journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook also reported that Liverpool are “confident of finalizing the deal,” with the possibility of medical tests being carried out in London.

Palace preparing replacements

Crystal Palace have already lined up reinforcements, easing Guehi’s departure. Toulouse’s Jaydee Canvot and Brighton’s Igor Julio have undergone medicals, while Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlović (Milan) remains on the radar.

Manager Oliver Glasner, however, remains cautious:

“We have no chance of finding the right replacement in one day. We all agree to sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the squad,” he said on Saturday.

Final approval

The ultimate decision rests with Palace chairman Steve Parish, who must weigh the club’s defensive stability against a significant financial gain. For now, all indications suggest Guehi will become Liverpool’s next signing, further strengthening Arne Slot’s defensive options for the 2025/26 Premier League season
