Harvey Elliott is set to leave Liverpool for Aston Villa in a €35m deal

The 22-year-old midfielder is no longer in Liverpool’s plans and will join Villa on loan with a purchase obligation.
Harvey Elliott is on the verge of leaving Liverpool to join Aston Villa, with the Birmingham club closing a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Villa have agreed to a loan deal with an obligation to buy worth €35 million (R$222 million), dependent on performance clauses. Elliott is expected to undergo medical tests in the coming hours before signing.
Villa’s Alternative After Paquetá Deal Collapsed
Aston Villa turned their attention to Elliott after failing to secure Lucas Paquetá from West Ham, who was not released by his club. Coach Unai Emery has been looking to add creativity to his midfield, and Elliott fits the profile of a versatile, technically gifted player who can operate across different roles.
Elliott’s Journey at Liverpool
Signed from Fulham in 2019, Elliott was once regarded as one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects. He spent a season on loan at Blackburn Rovers (2020/21) before returning to Anfield, where he played a supporting role in the Reds’ recent campaigns.
Across all competitions, Elliott has made 149 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 20 assists. Despite these numbers, he fell out of Jürgen Klopp’s rotation last season, featuring only 28 times. He has also represented England at youth levels, including U-15, U-17, and U-21.
Liverpool Marching On in the Premier League
While Elliott prepares to leave, Liverpool remain in strong form. The defending Premier League champions lead the table after three straight wins to open the 2025/26 campaign, most recently beating Arsenal 1-0 at Anfield.
The league now pauses for the international break, with Liverpool returning on September 14 against Burnley, currently in 14th place.
