New Liverpool striker surpasses Florian Wirtz in wages and trails only Salah and Van Dijk

Liverpool’s new signing Hugo Ekitiké is set to become one of the highest-paid players at the club, earning between £13 and £14 million per year the equivalent of R$97 to R$105 million at current exchange rates.

According to journalist Patrick Berger, the 23-year-old French striker will trail only Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk on Liverpool’s wage bill. Salah currently earns £20 million (R$150 million) per year, while Van Dijk pockets £18 million (R$135 million) annually.

Ekitiké Out-Earns Fellow New Signing Wirtz

Interestingly, Ekitiké’s salary will exceed that of another high-profile Liverpool signing, Florian Wirtz. The German midfielder, who was also brought in this window, will reportedly earn €10 million per season (around R$75 million).

Ekitiké’s contract reflects not just Liverpool’s confidence in his potential, but also the club’s commitment to revamping the squad under Arne Slot.

Liverpool’s Aggressive Transfer Window

Liverpool have been one of the most aggressive clubs in Europe during this transfer window. With the arrival of Hugo Ekitiké, the Reds have now secured five new signings:

  • Hugo Ekitiké (Eintracht Frankfurt)
  • Florian Wirtz
  • Jeremie Frimpong
  • Milos Kerkez
  • Ármin Pécsi (youth prospect)

Together, these additions represent a total investment of £263 million (approximately R$1.9 billion) signaling a major rebuild in the post-Jürgen Klopp era.

Van Dijk Warned About a Big Summer

Before the transfer window officially opened, Virgil van Dijk hinted at Liverpool’s bold summer strategy. The Dutch defender stated that the club was planning to bring in “big names” and undergo “important changes” as they begin a new chapter under Slot.

The high salary offered to Ekitiké supports that vision. The former Eintracht Frankfurt striker is expected to play a central role in the club’s new tactical identity, which focuses on youth, speed, and attacking depth.
