Dele Alli could restart career at Swansea after being linked with Grêmio

Former Tottenham star Dele Alli is once again seeking a fresh start. The 29-year-old midfielder, currently a free agent, was recently offered to Grêmio and other Brazilian clubs, but negotiations never advanced. Now, Swansea City has emerged as the most likely destination.
Swansea move gains momentum
According to Transfer Feed, talks with Swansea have gained traction in recent hours. With no contractual ties since leaving Italian football, Dele Alli can sign at any time, outside the transfer window.
Brazilian option stalls
In Brazil, GZH reported weeks ago that Dele’s name had been suggested to Grêmio and other Série A clubs. However, the proposal did not move forward, leaving the midfielder closer to a return to English football than a move to South America.
Decline after Tottenham glory
Once one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents, Dele Alli has struggled to replicate his early form. At Como, he played just one game, while at Besiktas he made 15 appearances with three goals. His stint at Everton also ended without impact — 13 games and no goal contributions.
His peak came in the 2016/17 season, when he scored 22 goals and provided 10 assists in 50 games for Tottenham, confirming his reputation as one of England’s most exciting midfielders.
Career beginnings and current outlook
Dele Alli was developed by MK Dons, where he impressed before joining Spurs in 2015. Despite his decline in recent years, Swansea see him as a low-cost gamble that could rejuvenate their midfield.
Meanwhile, at Grêmio, the board has shifted focus. Another rumored target, goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, also won’t be joining the club after leaving Saudi Arabia.
