Lucas Ferreira Becomes a Doubt for São Paulo Ahead of Crespo’s Debut

São Paulo may have a key absence for their return to the Brasileirão and the debut of coach Hernán Crespo, as Lucas Ferreira is now a doubt for the clash against Flamengo on Saturday, July 12, at the Maracanã.

Hip Pain Sidelines Ferreira

The 22-year-old forward missed Friday’s training match against the club’s U-20 team due to hip pain, and was limited to physiotherapy work on Monday. The São Paulo medical department will continue to monitor his condition throughout the week.

The Tricolor is set to travel on Friday, one day before facing Flamengo at 4:30 PM (Brasília time) in a highly anticipated match that also marks Crespo’s debut in his second stint at the helm.

Crespo Begins His New Cycle

Hernán Crespo officially began work at CT da Barra Funda on Monday morning. The coach has four full training sessions scheduled before his return to the Maracanã, where he previously led São Paulo to a 2021 Paulista title.

Injury Update: Who’s In and Who’s Out?

Beyond Ferreira, São Paulo is also closely tracking the conditions of:

  • Lucas Moura – In physical transition
  • Ferreirinha – In physical transition
    (Both worked with the youth squad over the weekend)

Meanwhile, the club received positive updates:

  • Óscar and Marcos Antônio have fully recovered and are expected to be available for selection against Flamengo.

Suspended

Luciano (number 10) will miss the match due to an accumulation of yellow cards, though he is not dealing with any injury.
