Gabriel Pec rejects return to Brazil despite interest from Palmeiras and Cruzeiro

Los Angeles Galaxy forward prefers to stay in MLS amid European interest
Former Vasco da Gama standout Gabriel Pec has decided against returning to Brazilian football, despite receiving interest from Palmeiras and Cruzeiro during the current transfer window. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is currently thriving in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy, where he continues to attract attention from clubs both in Brazil and Europe.
According to GOAL, both Palmeiras and Cruzeiro made approaches to bring Pec back to Brazil. However, the player reportedly showed no interest in the proposals and declined to enter into talks with either club.
MLS Stability Over Brazilian Return
Sources close to the player suggest that Pec is fully focused on continuing his career in the United States. He reportedly views a return to Brazil as a step backward unless it involves a clear path to a major European club.
Pec had previously been linked to Atlético de Madrid, who were scouting him as a possible replacement for Antoine Griezmann. However, following Griezmann’s decision to remain in Spain, the Spanish club withdrew its interest.
Real Oviedo Shows Interest
While offers from major European clubs have yet to materialize, Pec is attracting attention from Real Oviedo, who recently secured promotion back to La Liga. The Spanish side sees Pec as a valuable addition to help strengthen the squad in their bid to remain in the top flight.
Oviedo is reportedly leading the race in Europe for the former Vasco winger, who remains open to the idea of crossing the Atlantic again this time to the Spanish league.
Solid Form in the 2025 MLS Season
Gabriel Pec has enjoyed a productive 2025 campaign so far with 27 appearances, 8 goals, and 1 assist for the Galaxy. His performances have cemented his status as a key player under coach Greg Vanney, and LA Galaxy are understood to be reluctant to part with him unless a compelling offer arrives.
