Rúben Amorim removes Onana from Manchester United’s plans and pushes for Dibu Martínez

Manchester United are preparing for major changes in goal, with manager Rúben Amorim making it clear that André Onana no longer features in his plans for the season. According to Fichajes, the Portuguese coach has placed Aston Villa’s Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez at the top of his list of reinforcements.

Onana out of the project

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Onana has been under scrutiny following a series of errors that undermined United’s defensive security. The Cameroonian, who missed the Premier League opener, has played 101 matches for the Red Devils, conceding 192 goals — numbers that weighed heavily in Amorim’s decision. Signed for around R$297 million, Onana is now expected to look for a new club in Europe. Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s team, has already been mentioned as a possible destination.

Dibu Martínez as the priority

For Amorim, strengthening the goalkeeper position is essential to give Manchester United stability in the new European season. Dibu Martínez is considered the main target and is reportedly open to a move, though Aston Villa are adopting a tough stance in negotiations.

Senne Lammens as an alternative

Alongside the Argentine, United are also evaluating Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old Antwerp goalkeeper has impressed with his performances in Belgium, combining his imposing 1.93m frame with reliable distribution. While seen as a promising option, he remains secondary to Martínez in Amorim’s plans.
