Chelsea make €50 million offer for Alessandro Bastoni, but Inter defender rejects Premier League move

Chelsea’s search for defensive reinforcements hit a roadblock after Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni turned down a transfer to Stamford Bridge. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues tabled a €50 million offer for the 25-year-old, but the Italian international has no intention of leaving Serie A.

Bastoni committed to Inter’s title bid

Standing at 1.91m (6’3″), Bastoni has become a cornerstone of Inter’s backline and remains fully focused on helping Simone Inzaghi’s squad fight for the Serie A title. Despite Chelsea’s financial lure and the chance to join Enzo Maresca’s new project in London, the defender is determined to stay in Italy.

Maresca pushing for reinforcements

The refusal is a blow for Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who has been urging the board to sign a central defender before the transfer window closes. “The club knows what I think. I believe we need a defender, and we are looking for an internal solution,” Maresca said.

Behind the scenes, the club is weighing whether to invest in a new arrival or trust the current options, with Trevoh Chalobah, Axel Disasi, and Renato Veiga all linked with possible exits.

Konaté emerges as alternative

With Bastoni unwilling to leave Inter, Chelsea may turn their attention to other targets. One name already under consideration is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. However, the Frenchman is also attracting interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, making any deal equally complex.
