Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is left out of the national team and could be another reason to seek a transfer

Real Madrid forward grows frustrated with lack of opportunities and attracts Premier League interest.

National team snub adds fuel to exit talk

The uncertainty around Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid has grown after he was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s latest Brazil squad. The 24-year-old forward, already upset by his limited minutes in La Liga, now sees his international absence as another blow to his ambitions.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey (TBR Football), this could be the final push for Rodrygo to leave Spain. The player has already asked his agents to explore options in the Premier League, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham all monitoring his situation.

Ancelotti’s explanation

In a press conference, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the absence, suggesting it was not definitive:

“They (Neymar and Rodrygo) know what the national team expects. They need to play games and be physically fit. I don’t need to explain further—if Rodrygo wants an explanation, he has my number,” Ancelotti stated.

Even so, Rodrygo’s frustration is clear. He requested to play on the left wing under Xabi Alonso, but after being substituted early against Oviedo, he showed visible irritation on the bench.

Player wants consistency before 2026 World Cup

Rodrygo’s main goal is to secure a permanent spot in the Brazil squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup. To achieve that, he needs both consistent club minutes and strong performances at the top level.

At Real Madrid, however, competition is fierce and his influence has waned. With a contract valid until June 2028 and a market value close to €90 million, Los Blancos are not expected to let him leave easily.
