Marcos Rojo agrees to terminate his contract with Boca Juniors and is expected to leave the club.

Marcos Rojo has accepted Boca Juniors’ proposal to terminate his contract early, officially ending his time with the Argentine club. The defender’s contract was originally valid until December 2025, but both parties agreed to part ways.
According to Infobae, Boca Juniors will pay Rojo the remaining five months’ salary as part of the agreement. The 35-year-old had been training separately from the main squad alongside Marcelo Saracchi and Cristian Lema, which created internal tensions and led to the termination offer that Rojo eventually accepted.
Rojo first hinted at a possible departure during the FIFA Club World Cup, where coach Miguel Ángel Russo preferred to field Ayrton Costa amid Rojo’s uncertain status. Initially, Rojo showed reluctance to end his contract while in the United States, but discussions resumed upon returning to Argentina.
Potential Return to Estudiantes
In recent hours, Rojo’s name has surfaced in transfer talks involving Estudiantes midfielder Santiago Ascacibar, raising speculation about a possible return to the club where Rojo began his career. The defender is now a free agent and open to offers from any club.
