Liverpool Consider Swap Deal Involving Konaté to Land Rodrygo from Real Madrid

The Reds aim to bring in the Brazilian forward and could include Ibrahima Konaté as part of the negotiations
Liverpool are exploring a bold move in the summer transfer window, eyeing Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid, and are reportedly willing to include Ibrahima Konaté in the deal to reduce the financial burden, according to Football Transfers.
Rodrygo No Longer in Xabi Alonso’s Plans?
Despite his talent and past contributions, Rodrygo’s role at Real Madrid appears increasingly uncertain. Under new head coach Xabi Alonso, the Brazilian winger has been used sparingly featuring in just two matches at the Club World Cup and could be shown the door this summer.
With Jude Bellingham, Endrick, and Kylian Mbappé expected to dominate the attacking landscape at the Santiago Bernabéu, Rodrygo may find himself surplus to requirements.
Konaté Could Be Used as a Bargaining Chip
To land the 23-year-old Brazil international, Liverpool are considering involving Ibrahima Konaté, who is reportedly admired by Real Madrid’s recruitment staff. The French center-back is valued at around €60 million, and his departure could help the Reds balance their transfer budget following recent big-money signings.
Rodrygo, meanwhile, is priced at €100 million by Los Blancos, meaning Liverpool would need to add a €40 million fee on top of Konaté to complete the transaction should Madrid agree to the structure.
However, sources close to Anfield say Liverpool are still attempting to renew Konaté’s contract before definitively deciding to include him in any swap deal.
Budget Tightening After Major Signings
The Reds are already close to finalizing a major transfer for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, a deal reportedly worth €100 million, excluding bonuses. They are also monitoring Alexander Isak and considering triggering his release clause, which could further stretch the club’s financial leeway.
With these priorities in mind, offering a key player like Konaté in exchange for Rodrygo might be the only realistic route for Liverpool to land the Brazilian this summer.
Rodrygo’s Future Still Uncertain
While Premier League interest in Rodrygo remains strong, including from Arsenal and Manchester United, Liverpool seem the most willing to make a decisive offer. If Real Madrid agree to the terms and if Konaté is made available a sensational swap deal could materialize in the coming weeks.
