Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes praises Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense in an interview with ESPN Brasil

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has expressed admiration for Brazilian football, singling out Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Fluminense during an interview with ESPN Brasil. The Portuguese star, known for following the Brasileirão closely, highlighted the quality and tactical level of the clubs, particularly those that shone at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Fluminense’s Club World Cup Run Impresses

Fernandes praised Fluminense’s performance in the tournament, where Renato Gaúcho’s side reached the semi-finals before falling to eventual champions Chelsea. “They have a very complete, very well-prepared team,” the United playmaker noted, pointing to the tactical discipline that has become a hallmark of the Rio club.

Recognition for Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras

The midfielder also spoke highly of Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira, acknowledging that despite the club’s current struggles, the Portuguese manager’s track record remains impressive. “Even though they’re not in the best of times, Palmeiras has always had a coach who achieves great things winning the Libertadores, national titles, and Club World Cups,” Fernandes said.

Praise for Filipe Luís at Flamengo

Turning to Flamengo, Fernandes highlighted the work of coach Filipe Luís, a former player under Jorge Jesus and Diego Simeone. “I don’t know how much he’s applied what he learned from them, but you can see he understands the game and the current moment. Flamengo is growing, and he’s a big part of that,” the Portuguese international observed.

Premier League Opener Ahead

Bruno Fernandes will next lead Manchester United in their Premier League opener on Sunday, August 17, at Old Trafford against Arsenal, kicking off at 12:30 p.m.
