Manchester United agrees to sell Rasmus Hojlund after disappointing spell

Manchester United have made a decisive move regarding the future of striker Rasmus Højlund, setting a £30 million asking price amid growing interest from Italian Serie A clubs, according to the BBC.

Højlund Deemed Surplus to Requirements by Amorim

Signed with high expectations in August 2023, the 21-year-old Danish striker failed to establish himself at Old Trafford. Following a poor season under new manager Rúben Amorim, United’s leadership now views Højlund as a misjudged investment, burdened by a sizable salary and limited tactical fit.

The recent signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have pushed Højlund further down the pecking order, all but confirming his exit this summer.

United Hope to Recoup Investment

Manchester United are now actively seeking buyers and have set a minimum price of £30 million (approximately R$220 million) in an attempt to recover part of the initial €75 million spent to bring him in from Atalanta.

Despite scoring 10 goals last season, Højlund struggled to maintain consistency and never fully adapted to Premier League demands leading to frustration among fans and coaching staff alike.

Serie A Return on the Cards

While his market value has dropped, Serie A clubs remain interested in his services. A return to Atalanta is reportedly under discussion, as the Bergamo-based club considers a reunion with their former No. 9.

In addition, Lazio has emerged as another potential destination, eyeing Højlund as a possible attacking reinforcement. Both clubs are monitoring the situation closely and may make formal moves before the window closes.
