Manchester City sign Eartha Cumings to bolster defence ahead of 2025/26 WSL season

Manchester City Women have added Scottish goalkeeper Eartha Cumings to their squad as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s Super League campaign. The 26-year-old arrives from Swedish side Rosengard and will compete with Khiara Keating for the starting spot between the posts.

Cumings enjoyed a solid season in Sweden, featuring in 12 matches, keeping four clean sheets, and recording an impressive save percentage. Her signing strengthens City’s defensive options as the club looks to improve on a 2024/25 campaign that ended without silverware.

Manchester City Targeting a Comeback Season

After falling short in both the WSL and the UEFA Women’s Champions League last term, Manchester City are determined to challenge Chelsea’s domestic dominance and rival Arsenal, who claimed European glory last season.

Recent signings include highly rated young talents Jade Rose and Iman Beney, both expected to make an impact in international women’s football. The club is also working to retain its core squad, with Brazilian forward Kerolin set to remain despite interest from abroad.

Pre-Season Plans

City will not kick off their WSL season until September, when they face defending champions Chelsea, but they have friendlies scheduled in the meantime. Their next outing is a high-profile derby against Manchester United on August 9 at 9:00 a.m. (local time).
