Barcelona will only be able to register Rashford and García with a report from Ter Stegen and validation of boxes

Barcelona’s plans to register new signings Marcus Rashford and Joan García have hit a bureaucratic hurdle, with the club currently unable to register either player for official competition. According to Marca, the process now depends on two factors: the approval of new VIP boxes at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou and the validation of a medical report on goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen by La Liga.
Tense Relationship with Ter Stegen
The situation is complicated by tensions between Ter Stegen and the club. The German goalkeeper, who recently lost the captaincy to Ronald Araújo, has reportedly exercised his right to withhold details about the severity of his injury. Without this report, Barcelona cannot free up the salary margin needed to register new arrivals.
The club has stated that 80% of Ter Stegen’s wages could be used toward registering Rashford and García if the medical clearance is accepted.
Financial Limitations Still in Play
The recent departure of defender Iñigo Martínez to Al-Nassr, where he will earn €14 million per season, has not resolved the issue. Due to La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule, Barcelona can only reinvest half of the salary they have freed up, which is insufficient to meet registration requirements.
Awaiting Key Approvals
Barcelona officials are now awaiting the green light from City Hall for the opening of the stadium’s new VIP boxes, expected next week. That approval, combined with a favorable decision on Ter Stegen’s case, could finally allow the Catalan club to register both players ahead of the new season.
