Manchester City eye PSG’s Donnarumma as Ederson nears Galatasaray exit

Manchester City could be set for a major change in goal. With Ederson close to leaving for Galatasaray, Pep Guardiola’s side has turned its attention to Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports from L’Équipe.

Ederson Cut From City’s Premier League Opener

The Brazilian shot-stopper was left out of City’s squad for their Premier League debut against Wolves this Saturday (16). Instead, new signing James Trafford will start between the posts.

Ederson has already reached a personal agreement with Galatasaray, with only final negotiations between the clubs pending. His exit after seven years at the Etihad would mark the end of an era, as the 31-year-old was a cornerstone of Guardiola’s success in domestic and European competitions.

Donnarumma Close to Agreement With City

City wasted no time identifying a replacement. Talks with Donnarumma are said to be at an advanced stage, with Guardiola personally involved in convincing the Italian. Despite interest from Manchester United earlier this summer, Donnarumma has reportedly given his approval to join the English champions.

The 25-year-old is now waiting for Ederson’s departure to finalize his move, which is expected to be completed before the end of the transfer window.

Why Donnarumma?

Donnarumma leaves PSG after winning multiple titles but falling out of Luis Enrique’s plans. For City, the move represents both a sporting and strategic upgrade: Donnarumma is younger and enters the Premier League at the peak of his career, having already established himself as Italy’s No. 1.

City vs Wolves: Guardiola Under Pressure Early

While negotiations unfold off the pitch, Guardiola faces immediate pressure on it. After Liverpool opened the season with a victory, City must secure three points against Wolves to avoid an early slip in the Premier League title race.

The goalkeeper saga may define City’s summer, but with Donnarumma’s arrival on the horizon, the champions could be securing their last line of defense for the next decade.
