Barcelona not only wants Harry Kane but could sign Villarreal striker Etta Eyong

Barcelona’s search for a new striker continues, with the club not only monitoring Harry Kane but also considering Villarreal’s rising talent Etta Eyong as a long-term solution for their attack.

Lewandowski’s Future Sparks Search for Successor

With Robert Lewandowski nearing the end of his career, Barça president Joan Laporta and coach Hansi Flick have prioritized the signing of a new center forward for 2026. Kane, currently at Bayern Munich, remains one of the top targets.

However, according to Fichajes, the Catalan giants are also keeping a close eye on Etta Eyong, a 21-year-old Cameroonian striker who broke into Villarreal’s first team last season and is viewed internally as a player with huge potential.

Who Is Etta Eyong?

Eyong impressed with 19 goals and four assists in 30 matches for Villarreal B before earning promotion to the senior squad. He made four La Liga appearances last season, scoring once, and recently netted in the team’s 2-0 win over Real Oviedo in their season opener.

The forward, discovered by Cádiz before moving to Villarreal, is regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Spanish football, making him a realistic option for Barcelona’s future project.

Rashford Strengthens Attack, Dani Rodríguez May Depart

In the short term, Barcelona have already reinforced their attack with the arrival of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. The Englishman has featured in four preseason matches, contributing one goal and two assists, and offers Flick flexibility both as a winger and as a central striker.

At the same time, Barça are preparing for possible departures. Young forward Dani Rodríguez is in talks with Valencia after being deemed surplus to requirements by Flick.

Barcelona’s Transfer Strategy

The Catalan club’s dual pursuit of an established star like Kane and a prospect such as Eyong reflects a broader strategy: combining experienced names with future talents to balance the squad as financial restrictions continue to shape transfer plans.

With Lewandowski’s future uncertain, Barcelona’s next striker signing could define the team’s attacking identity for years to come.
