Liverpool sees Rodrygo as Plan B if Isak deal falls through

Reds prioritize the Swede but keep Real Madrid forward on their radar.

Isak remains the top target

Liverpool continues to push for the signing of Alexander Isak, but negotiations with Newcastle have proven difficult. The Swedish striker is still the main priority for the Reds’ board, although talks risk stalling in the final stretch of the transfer window.

Rodrygo enters the scene

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool has identified Rodrygo as an alternative if Isak’s deal does not go through. The Real Madrid forward has been monitored for some time and is seen as a viable addition to strengthen the attack in the 2025/26 season.

The Brazilian’s future in Spain is uncertain. Under Xabi Alonso, he has struggled for minutes and has privately expressed frustration over his current role.

Competition with Tottenham

Liverpool are not alone in the race. Tottenham have also approached Rodrygo’s representatives, expressing clear interest in bringing the 23-year-old to London. Spurs view him as a key reinforcement to boost their attack.
