Chelsea reaches agreement with Garnacho and is now negotiating his purchase with Manchester United

Argentine forward could leave Manchester United in transfer worth around €63 million
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Alejandro Garnacho after reaching an agreement with the Manchester United forward on personal terms, according to sources consulted by GOAL. The deal, which covers salary and contract length, puts the 20-year-old Argentine on track to become one of the London club’s main reinforcements for the upcoming European season.
The Stamford Bridge side must now negotiate directly with Manchester United to finalise the transfer. The Red Devils have given a positive signal towards a sale but are standing firm on their valuation of at least £50 million (around €63 million). Chelsea considers the asking price high but remains engaged in talks.
Boosting Maresca’s attack
Manager Enzo Maresca has identified Garnacho as a key target to strengthen Chelsea’s attacking options. The coach is reportedly an admirer of the player’s pace, dribbling ability, and versatility in the final third. The move comes as part of a broader recruitment drive that also saw the debut of Brazilian winger Estêvão, who scored in Chelsea’s 2-0 friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.
Garnacho’s arrival would add competition and depth to a forward line that has struggled for consistency in recent seasons. The player himself is understood to be motivated by the prospect of proving his worth at a direct Premier League rival, partly as a response to his falling-out with current United manager Ruben Amorim.
United career and future prospects
Since breaking into Manchester United’s senior squad, Garnacho has made 58 appearances across all competitions, registering 11 goals and 11 assists last season. His performances have attracted interest from several European clubs, but Chelsea’s swift move to agree personal terms appears to have placed them in pole position.
If a transfer is completed, Garnacho would join a growing list of young talents at Chelsea, fitting into the club’s long-term strategy of building a dynamic and technically gifted squad.
