Benfica ends Rafael Rodrigues’ loan and Adrian Bajramie releases Tiago Gouveia

Benfica has reshaped its squad in the final stretch of the transfer window, canceling the loans of Rafael Rodrigues and Adrian Bajrami to free up space for Tiago Gouveia’s move to OGC Nice.
Gouveia Officially Loaned to Ligue 1
The 24-year-old winger Tiago Gouveia has joined OGC Nice on loan, with a purchase option clause valued at around €8 million. According to Portuguese outlets, the clause may be optional or mandatory depending on performance triggers, but the deal is already signed and sealed.
Gouveia, who played 19 matches and scored three goals for Benfica’s first team, also won the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup in both 2023 and 2025. His versatility on the right wing made him one of the most promising academy products in recent years.
Benfica Frees Up Loan Slots
UEFA regulations limited Benfica to six loans, but with four already filled, Gouveia’s departure was blocked. To solve the issue, the club terminated the loans of Rafael Rodrigues (Al-Ain) and Adrian Bajrami (Luzern).
The move gave Benfica breathing room to push Gouveia’s transfer through without regulatory hurdles.
Wider Transfer Context
Benfica’s front office has been busy managing assets. Florentino Luís is also close to leaving, with Burnley agreeing to a loan with obligation to buy for €26 million, including a €2 million advance.
By offloading Gouveia and freeing loan spots, the club has secured both regulatory compliance and potential future revenue through embedded resale clauses.
