Valencia is not stopping at Pau Víctor and is considering taking Oriol Romeu from Hansi Flick’s Barcelona

LaLiga side Valencia CF is reportedly eyeing Oriol Romeu as its next signing, following interest in Barcelona forward Pau Víctor. According to Sport, the 33-year-old midfielder is no longer part of Hansi Flick’s plans at FC Barcelona, and Valencia is prepared to secure his services potentially on a free transfer.

Romeu Left Out of Preseason Tour

Romeu, who spent last season on loan at Girona, was excluded from Barcelona’s preseason tour, signaling his likely departure from Camp Nou in the coming weeks. The Catalan club is expected to terminate his contract to facilitate a free move.

Valencia is ready to act swiftly if the termination is confirmed, seeing Romeu’s experience as a key addition to their midfield depth.

Barcelona Reshaping Under Flick

Following a strong start to his tenure, Hansi Flick is reshaping the Barcelona squad by offloading players who are not central to his project. Alongside Romeu, names like Pau Víctor, Iñaki Peña, and Andreas Christensen are also on the club’s transfer list.

While young talents like Marc Casadó, Pau Cubarsí, and Raphinha have earned Flick’s trust, others like Romeu are set to move on after failing to make a lasting impact.

Romeu’s Stint at Barcelona

A product of La Masia, Oriol Romeu began his senior career with Barcelona in 2010 before multiple stints abroad. His return to the club saw him make 39 appearances with one assist, but he struggled to secure a consistent role.

Despite contributing to domestic success in LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup, Romeu’s second spell in Catalonia appears to be drawing to a quiet end.
