Manchester United consider sending Hojlund to RB Leipzig to sign Sesko

Manchester United is weighing the possibility of sending striker Rasmus Højlund to RB Leipzig as part of a bold strategy to secure the signing of Benjamin Šeško, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Slovenian forward is seen as a top priority by United’s leadership and incoming manager Rúben Amorim, who is pushing for the 21-year-old’s arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
Swap Deal in Play as United Intensifies Chase
In order to outmaneuver competition and meet Leipzig’s valuation, Manchester United is exploring player-plus-cash deals. Options reportedly discussed include Joshua Zirkzee, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund—with Højlund emerging as the most likely to be included.
Højlund, who joined United from Atalanta for €75 million in 2023, has struggled to find consistency but remains highly rated in the Bundesliga. Leipzig’s coaching staff is said to approve of Højlund’s profile, and the Danish international could be key to unlocking a deal.
Leipzig Open to Højlund; Sesko Valued at €70M
RB Leipzig is receptive to the idea of bringing in Højlund, seeing him as a strong developmental fit in their youth-focused system that has produced stars like Xavi Simons and Dani Olmo.
Sesko, meanwhile, is coming off a breakout season, scoring 21 goals and providing 6 assists in 45 appearances. His market value has soared to €70 million, and Leipzig is holding firm on that price, according to reports.
United Faces Crucial Decision on Number 9 Role
The potential departure of Højlund could mark a significant change in United’s attacking setup, especially as the club looks to reshape its squad under new sporting director Dan Ashworth and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
With Chelsea monitoring Garnacho and Zirkzee generating little interest, United appears to be seriously considering making Højlund the centerpiece of a deal that could bring one of Europe’s most exciting strikers to the Premier League.
