Verratti warns that Mbappé is ‘hungry’ at Real Madrid: “He will win the Ballon d’Or”
Former PSG midfielder Marco Verratti has thrown his full support behind Kylian Mbappé, declaring that the Real Madrid star is more determined than ever to claim global football’s top individual honor.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Verratti described the French striker’s mindset since arriving at the Santiago Bernabéu:
“Kylian Mbappé is hungry for success and is competitive. I’m convinced that sooner or later he will win the Ballon d’Or.”
A New Era Begins with Madrid’s No. 10 Shirt
Mbappé took over Luka Modric’s legendary No. 10 jersey, a symbolic moment that reflects his growing role at the Spanish giants. The decision, backed by club president Florentino Pérez, was also influenced by Mbappé’s commercial power—shirt sales for his previous No. 9 had already broken records.
Although Arda Güler was rumored to be a candidate for the iconic number, Modric himself gave his blessing for Mbappé to inherit it. The Croatian is now with AC Milan and remains supportive of his former teammate’s rise.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, and his impact has been immediate.
