Tottenham keen to pay £40m to sign Garnacho from Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur have accelerated their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho, with the North London club now willing to pay €47 million (£40 million) for the Argentine winger following Manchester United’s decision to lower his price tag by £20 million.
According to GiveMeSport, Spurs view Garnacho as a key offensive reinforcement and are pleased with United’s willingness to negotiate. The 20-year-old, whose position under manager Rúben Amorim has weakened in recent months, could become Tottenham’s next major signing after securing Mohammed Kudus.
Garnacho’s Future in Doubt at Old Trafford
The former Atlético Madrid youth product has seen his stock decline under Amorim, struggling to adapt to the Portuguese coach’s tactical system. Garnacho barely featured in the Europa League final, which Manchester United lost, and his total of 11 goals across 58 appearances last season has not solidified his place in the squad.
Sources indicate Garnacho is now on United’s list of expendable players a group that also includes forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Tottenham See Opportunity in Uncertainty
The strained relationship between Garnacho and Amorim, coupled with Manchester United’s active transfer window including big-money signings such as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, which reportedly cost the club over €180 million has opened the door for other clubs to make a move.
Tottenham’s board believe a change of environment could reignite Garnacho’s form. Under Thomas Frank, who is expected to implement a fast, aggressive system at Spurs, the Argentine could flourish with regular minutes and attacking freedom.
Højlund Also Set to Leave
Meanwhile, Rasmus Højlund, another young striker sidelined in the Amorim era, is also expected to depart. Several Serie A clubs are reportedly preparing to bring the Danish international back to Italy.
United’s overhaul continues as they reshape their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Garnacho’s departure now appearing increasingly likely.
