Real Madrid prioritizes Mbappé and denies Vini Jr’s salary demands; Brazilian received an ultimatum from the board

Madrid board refuses to match Mbappé’s salary; Vinícius Jr. urged to regain top form to earn future raise
A new chapter has opened in the ongoing contract saga between Vinícius Júnior and Real Madrid, as the Spanish giants have reportedly rejected the Brazilian’s latest salary demands, according to SER Deportivos. The request came after the high-profile arrival of Kylian Mbappé, who instantly became the club’s highest-paid player.
Vini Jr. Demanded Parity with Mbappé
Negotiations for Vini Jr.’s contract extension have been underway since 2024, but the Brazilian’s position hardened after receiving a record-breaking offer from Saudi Arabia, which aimed to make him the highest-paid player in the world.
Though the 24-year-old rejected the Saudi proposal, he insisted on a salary at least equal to Mbappé’s, citing his long-standing contribution and influence at the club. Vinícius currently ranks among the club’s top earners and was named FIFA’s The Best Player in 2024.
Real Madrid Says No – For Now
Despite his stellar past performances, Real Madrid’s board has declined Vini Jr.’s request, arguing that the Brazilian has not maintained the same level of form over the past season. Club president Florentino Pérez and the board reportedly believe the wage hike is unjustified at this moment.
“Prove Yourself First” – Vini Receives Ultimatum
According to SER Deportivos, the club issued an ultimatum: if Vini Jr. regains his 2023/24 peak form, he may be rewarded with a revised contract next summer.
Madrid’s current proposal includes a salary increase, but it remains below the €35–40 million annual range reportedly commanded by Mbappé. Vini’s camp has yet to accept, and no formal agreement has been reached.
Vini Jr.’s Contract Status
Vinícius Jr. is still under contract until June 2027, which gives Madrid ample time to negotiate on their terms. The forward, despite the disagreement, is said to be keen on staying at the Bernabéu and is not considering a move for now.
