Barcelona Transfer Update: Hansi Flick wants striker and full-back

Blaugrana working behind the scenes to secure four reinforcements ahead of the 2025/26 season

Barcelona are far from done in the transfer market. While deals for Joan García and Nico Williams are advancing, new head coach Hansi Flick has requested two more signings to bolster the squad.

According to Sport, the German manager is pushing for a new striker and a full-back to strengthen the team’s depth ahead of a highly competitive season. The goal? Reduce reliance on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha in attack and provide proper cover for Jules Koundé in defense.

Hansi Flick’s Wishlist: Marcus Rashford & João Cancelo

Marcus Rashford – Forward (Manchester United)

Sources close to the negotiation reveal that Rashford is keen on a move, and Manchester United are open to selling. Barcelona see the English forward as a perfect fit to complement Yamal and Raphinha in Flick’s dynamic attacking setup. An “imminent arrival” is being discussed behind the scenes.

João Cancelo – Right-back (Manchester City)

Cancelo is another top target. His desire to return to Camp Nou after a solid loan spell last season has been well received by Deco, Barcelona’s football director. With Koundé needing rotation and reinforcement, Cancelo could be the ideal fit on the right flank.

Signings in Progress

  • Joan García (Goalkeeper) – deal close to final
  • Nico Williams (Winger) – deal in advanced stages, pending registration guarantees due to La Liga financial rules

The board, led by Joan Laporta, is actively working to ensure that all player registrations meet financial fair play requirements, an issue that previously complicated deals like Dani Olmo’s.

Barcelona’s Exit List: Ansu Fati to Monaco

While planning for arrivals, Barça are also preparing for departures. President Joan Laporta has confirmed that Ansu Fati is set to sign with AS Monaco. The former No.10 is expected to leave permanently, with negotiations already scheduled for finalization this week.
