PSG decides to sell Donnarumma and reaches an agreement to buy Lucas Chevalier from Lille

Paris Saint-Germain has decided to part ways with Gianluigi Donnarumma and reached an agreement to sign Lucas Chevalier from Lille, marking one of the most expensive goalkeeper transfers in the club’s history.
Donnarumma on His Way Out
After stalled contract talks and the player’s preference to play in the Premier League, PSG has given up on renewing Donnarumma’s contract. The 26-year-old Italian has attracted strong interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, and a summer move now appears imminent.
Although Donnarumma had several standout performances including in the Champions League the internal consensus at PSG is that it’s time for a fresh start in goal.
PSG Reach €40M Agreement for Chevalier
To prepare for Donnarumma’s exit, PSG quickly finalized a deal for 23-year-old Lucas Chevalier from Ligue 1 rivals Lille. According to Sport, the Parisian giants agreed to pay €40 million (R$261.4 million) to secure the highly rated French shot-stopper.
That makes Chevalier the most expensive goalkeeper signing in PSG’s history, entering the club’s top 10 priciest transfers overall.
Who is Lucas Chevalier?
Chevalier, a Ligue 1 champion with Lille in 2020/21, was named the league’s best goalkeeper last season. He made 48 appearances, conceding 53 goals, and was selected for the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.
Despite his rising profile, Chevalier has yet to debut for the French national team. A move to PSG could significantly boost his chances of earning a call-up.
